Peter Seamer, CEO, VPA

Peter Seamer is the CEO of the Victorian Planning Authority (VPA).

Victoria’s population is projected to hit 10 million by 2051, presenting our state with unique challenges and opportunities. Planning for this growth requires the VPA to be innovative in its thinking and implementation, cut red tape and work closely with councils, government agencies, the development industry and the community.
As CEO, Peter oversees the VPA’s planning and infrastructure coordination activities to ensure Victoria has a strong supply of quality housing and job precincts, to keep pace with our thriving population.

Peter has a background in engineering, planning and management, with a Master of Engineering Science in Transport Planning and a Master of Urban Planning, both from Melbourne University. His background encompasses both government and private enterprise roles.

With a professional career starting in planning new towns in the UK and Australia, much of Peter’s career has been in Local Government as the CEO of several cities, including Essendon, Greater Bendigo, Whitehorse, and the City of Sydney.
Peter was also the CEO of Federation Square during its building phase and its first few years of operation.
